Can you imagine what the school day would look like if the bus drivers, custodians, paraeducators, secretaries, librarians, nurses and other support professionals weren’t there to help your child’s school run smoothly? Education support professionals (ESP) are critical members of the education workforce and ensure student success from pre-school through college. They have a wealth of knowledge, experience and passion and play critical roles in the school community.

Watch the NEA video below, Education Support Professionals: Meeting the Needs of the Whole Student, to see how ESP keep students healthy, safe, supported, engaged and challenged so they are ready to learn.

What can you do to help support these vital members of our school communities? Advocate for better training, more professional development opportunities and wages that reflect their responsibility and devotion to our children’s education. Investing in ESPs, who help administrators and teachers do their jobs, is an investment in the future of quality public education.
